Few settings in Richmond carry the kind of cinematic weight that The Byrd Theater does, and the Diamonddotmedia team knew exactly how to use it.
In a production that was as technically ambitious as it was visually stunning, the crew descended on the iconic venue to bring rising artist Kahri 1k's latest music video to life, deploying an impressive arsenal of filming techniques under the direction of Jordan Gonzalez.
From the opening frames, it was clear this wasn't a conventional shoot. A 20-foot crane gave the team a sweeping bird's-eye perspective of Kahri 1k on the balcony, while a separate overhead crane shot captured a striking lobby sequence as a crowd moved organically through the frame below. The result is the kind of grand, theatrical imagery that immediately commands attention.
Easyrig operator Ryan Harris added yet another dimension to the production, navigating the theater's staircases with fluid precision to capture intimate, movement-driven scenes that contrast beautifully against the larger crane work. The shoot culminated on the main stage, where both crane and handheld operators worked in tandem to document raw performance energy and layered B-roll footage.
What the behind-the-scenes moments reveal most is the quiet choreography of a team operating in sync, each operator, each angle, each decision serving a single unified vision. That collaborative foundation, guided by Gonzalez's direction, is what transforms a location into a cinematic experience.
